The eighth “Night of Museums and Galleries – Plovdiv” will be held on Friday, September 21st, 2012. The programme is divided into three parts: “Museums and Galleries”, “Culture and club”, “City and public spaces” with more than 50 museums, galleries, art spaces, clubs, bookshops, cultural institutions, studios, concert and theatre halls, historical and archeological monuments and others taking part that will turn the city into a big art scene.
For the past eight years “Night of Museums and Galleries – Plovdiv” has been visited by 160 000 people and has established itself as one of the country’s most emblematic cultural events with a wide cutlural programme, young audience, positive emotional charge and organization.
In this year’s “Night” the programme “Museums and galleries” will present 23 private and regional museums and galleries with their permanent expositions and exhibitions produced especially for the festival. In the “Culture and club” programme will take part 18 projects by cultural institutions, bookshops, informal art spaces and clubs, while the platform “City and public spaces” will present the climax of the festival “Rituals of the habitual” with 10 international projects curated by Vera Mlechevska which will spread around the entire town. All three programmes will be open on Friday from 19:00 till one o’clock in the morning.
The team of the Night of Museums and Galleries – Plovdiv blog – night.bg/blog – will publish daily articles about the programme, the participants, interviews with the artists, friends of the festival, pictures as well as other information for the guests of the city.
The visitors will be able to see the programme after mid-august on www.night.bg, and also in the special map and guide-book which will be distributed for free in Plovdiv and Sofia from the beginning of September.
The eighth “Night of Museums and Galleries – Plovdiv” has a new vision and logo developed by studio Punkt based on the number 8 as the letter “O” in the bulgairan writing of Night and Plovdiv and the sound „eight“ in „night“.
