Working visits for International Curators and Art Critics

In 2015 SARIEV Contemporary in collaboration with Open Arts Foundation launched a project that invites international curators and art critics on a working visit in Plovdiv and Sofia in order for them to get to know the local contemporary art scene. The intense program of visits of curators and critics include meetings with artists, curators and cultural managers, studio visits, visits of museums and galleries, reviewing portfolios of Bulgarian artists, public lectures and talks. Program lasts between 3 and 5 days separated between Plovdiv and Sofia.

In 2015 we were visited by Chris Sharp (curator, Mexico City), Edith Jerabkova (curator, Prague), Judicael Lavrador (art critic, Paris) and René Block (collector, Berlin).

In 2016 our guests were Stephanie Bailey (art critic, London, Hong Kong), Oliver Basciano (ArtReview, London), Veronique Souben (director Frac - Normandie Rouen).

In 2017 our guests were Rainald Schumacher (curator, Berlin) and Isabella Maidment (curator, Tate Modern, London).

The project was suspended durin the Covid pandemic but plans for continuation are in the works after 2023.
