Portfolio Day
Young authors meet art experts
Visual and performance artists can participate in an open call and submit a portfolio. A professional jury selects artists to participate in the Portfolio Day. The participants have individual consultations with the jury members - established artists, curators and gallerists who give them feedback to their portfolio and advises how to develop their career and artistic practice. The goal is to help young artists to learn how to present themselves and their work, how to communicate with curators and gallerists and to introduce them to art professionals.
For the third year, SARIEV Contemporary Gallery organized the "Portfolio Day" format for young artists. At the beginning of July 2019, the third edition will take place in Plovdiv, after two successful events in Plovdiv in 2016 and in Sofia in 2018. During the Portfolio Day, young artists had the opportunity to present their portfolios and receive individual consultations from leading gallerists, artists, curators and collectors, which aimed to encourage them and give them guidance for their future professional development. The selected artists had individual consultations with each of the members of the committee: Svetlana Kuyumdzhieva, Pravdolyub Ivanov, Isabella Ritter, Nikolay Nedelchev, Veselina and Catherine Sarievi, who gave them advice and practical guidance, e.g. in what direction to work and what to emphasize, how to present themselves and communicate with gallerists and curators. The event was also a good opportunity for the young artists to introduce their work to the committee members.
