FLUCA season 2021 overview

In 2021, the curator of the sixth season of FLUCA was the young visual artist, who also practices as an independent curator Valko Chobanov. His vision for the season was for Fluca to become a place for artistic collaboration, where artists feel free to share their independent views. In the coziness of the street and involving the invited artists foremost, the curatorial program tackles a discussion over aesthetics, kitsch, nature, design, pop culture and the confluence of pleasures.

FUTURE UNFORGETTABLE – PHASE IV - V - Together Again

In November 2021, the project Future Unforgettable shifts from the focus on local topics in its previous three phases dedicated to the processes of elaborating historical trajectories, mapping of current artistic locations and determining specific features and typologies of Bulgarian contemporary art.  Merging together through a series of actions its phases IV and V under the title “Together Again”, Future Unforgettable becomes a direct reflection of the time we live in by raising topical questions about the artistic environment on a global scale.

FUTURE UNFORGETTABLE - PHASE III - Under Deconstruction

In its previous phases, the art project FUTURE UNFORGETTABLE identified and dealt with topics such as political opposition, institutional deficiencies, individualism, the body as instrument and political entity, the fragility of borders (Phase I), along with topics concerned with researching the local artistic ecosystems, the formation of informal collectives, the transmission of knowledge and memory, the practices of dialogizing, the manifestations outside the “center” (Phase II). In its third phase, FUTURE UNFORGETTABLE will bring out through its own focus and analysis specific features of Bulgarian contemporary art.

FUTURE UNFORGETTABLE - PHASE II - On vacation…

Attention is brought to all topics, experiences and practices from the first decade of the 21st century to date, covering a number of areas in their Bulgarian context, such as the city, local ecosystems, artistic communities, informal environments, knowledge transfer, art audiences, cultural policies, interactions, continuity, memory, dialogue. This phase is expressly interested in the immediate communication, encounters and cohesion within artistic communities, and also in practices outside the "center" some of which follow the grassroots model.
